Quality devotions flow from the intersection of Scripture and experience. Neither practiced writing nor clever formatting can substitute for the heartfelt sharing of a simple truth discovered along life’s journey. That is the essence of an inspirational devotion.
Inspiration From the Mountain is a free reservoir of short devotions created to bring spiritual encouragement and strength that points people toward Christ. It’s a place where first-time and one-time writers join experienced authors, all hoping to bless the heart of a reader.
The guidelines below explain the kind of devotions that match the vision for Inspiration From the Mountain and how we work with writers to share their gift with others.
Write Naturally
Write the way you normally speak. Your readers don’t need impressive words. They need an authentic voice rooted in Scripture.
Build your devotion around one passage or one central biblical truth. Stay focused. Readers usually remember one well-developed thought better than several ideas competing for attention.
If a personal experience helps readers understand God’s Word, include it. Let the experience support Scripture, not replace it.
Historical or cultural background often strengthens a devotion when it helps readers understand the biblical text. Include only what serves the message.
Length and Style
Most devotions range from 800 to 1,200 words.
Please identify the Bible translation for any Scripture you include.
Before sending your devotion, read it aloud. If it sounds natural, it will usually read naturally.
About You (Bio)
Every published devotion includes your name, a brief biography, and one link of your choice. That link may point readers to your ministry, website, author page, or another place where they can learn more about your work.
Submitting Your Work
Send your devotion as a Word document or compatible file to:

Submit only work you have written.
If your devotion appears elsewhere, or another publisher holds rights to it, let us know when you send it. We gladly consider previously published material when you have permission to publish it on our website.
If you include photographs, artwork, or other images, submit only material you own or have permission to use.
What You Can Expect
We read every submission.
Accepted devotions normally appear within 30 days, often sooner.
We edit for grammar, punctuation, spelling, formatting, and consistency. If we believe a more significant revision would strengthen your devotion, we’ll contact you before making that change.
Not every devotion fits the purpose of Inspiration From the Mountain. When we decline a submission, it reflects our editorial direction rather than the value of the writer.
By submitting your devotion, you give Laurel Mountain Ministries permission to publish it in the Inspiration From the Mountain section of our website. We may also quote brief excerpts in ministry emails, social media, or similar communications that introduce readers to your devotion.
Your work remains your own. Unless another publisher’s agreement limits its use, you’re free to publish it elsewhere.
