If you or a friend need the products and services listed\, you are invited. Even though bicycles are everywhere\, they aren’t in the hands of those who need them the most. For at-risk families\, refugees\, and homeless\, bicycles are commonly the only way to get around. Whether we are locating bicycles\, repairing them\, or handing out bicycles\, we always do it with a serving heart.\n\n\n\n\nREVIVE: Upscale Resale Consignment Shop\n\n\n\n\n\n \nREVIVE: Upscale Resale Conignment Shop of Reading Avenue in Boyertown spearheads the clothing\, blanket\, and coat drive for Holiday Hope for Families. Connie Swartz the owner and operator told Laurel Mountain Ministries that “… I am excited to share with at-risk and homeless in the community …” REVIVE will provide a large inventory of ready to wear clothing\, blankets\, and coats to those who visit the Mountain on November 5th. Cotact information can be found there. \nThe Boyertown Salvation Army\n“The Salvation Army exists to meet the human need wherever\, wheneven\, and however we can. It doesn’t take much to change a life.” The Salvation Army Boyertown Corps has been serving since 1994. The corps has many social service programs including a food pantry\, daily lunch program\, rent and utility assistance\, Back to School help\, toys and clothes for children at Christmas\, and Christmas Food Baskets. Our emergency disaster services include help following floods\, fires\, and other natural disasters. \n \nThe corps also serves children and youth through Monday Red Shield Music Acadamy\, Wednesday DMZ Jr. kids programs\, Summer Day Camp\, Camp Ladore and other camp trips. We have a chapel on site that offers church worship services\, Bible Study/Sunday school\, vacation Bible school\, and adult fellowship retreats. We also have nursing home visitations. Our community events include a Back to School Night\, Easter Egg Hunt\, and Thanksgiving Community Dinner.” \nThe Boyertown Slavation Army Canteen Truck helps serve food at emergency and disaster events. They provide food and water\, hot meals and much more to First Responders and Families at these events. and so much more! The Canteen Truck will provide luch for those attending Holiday HOPE for Families. Hotdogs\, hamburgers\, coffee\, hot chocolate\, and drinks are part of the planned menu for the day. The Boyertown Salvation Army Canteen Truck previously partnered with Laurel Mountain Ministries many times. Tthe initial goal was to provide social services of its own in addition to providing area residents with information and referral services to other social service agencies serving the Boyertown area. \nThe Senior Neighborhood Center of Boyertown Area Multi-Service began in February of 1975 and today is an even more part of the community. It was renamed “The Center at Spring Street” in 2004 to reflect it’s new location. In 2022\, the Center continues to meet the changing needs of the area’s older population. \nMeals on Wheels was the first program we offered at the agency. With eight volunteers\, Multi-Service began delivering hot meals to the homebound elderly. Today\, the more than 150 volunteers over 100 mile every day to deliver more than 13\,000 meals annually. \nA community food pantry program soon followed. Designed to assist those experiencing financial difficulties\, the Multi-Service pantry is operationed daily by appointment. Donations to the food pantry come from churches\, service organizations\, schools\, Girl/Boy Scout troops\, local food markets\, the U.S. Postal Service\, and individual community members. And the number continues to grow by this day. \nBlankets of Hope\, Inc. (BOH) was founded by Marc Goldstein in December of 2011 upon reading an article in the local newspaper citing the level of poverty in the City of Reading\, and also an uplifting piece on a Secret Santa gifting money to those less fortunate. The third puzzle piece came when one of Goldstein’s customers bought a blanket as an employee holiday gift. The three triggers were food for thought: how could Goldstein\, as a small business owner at that time\, help the community? \nAfter reaching out to various Berks agencies\, Goldstein connected with Sharon Parker of the Berks Coalition to End Homelessness. From there\, Parker linked him to five Berks shelters\, the originating recipients of Blankets of Hope: Opportunity House\, Hope Rescue Mission\, Mary’s Shelter\, YMCA of Reading & Berks County and Berks Counseling Center. \nIn January of 2012\, BOH became a nonprofit corporation & in 2014\, BOH received its 501(c)(3) status. In the organization’s first two years\, 2\,000+ blankets were donated to the five recipient shelters through the help of private and corporate sector donations. \nIn 2016\, Chef Tim’s Take the Chill-Off event grew BOH’s mission further. For every delicious bowl of chili made by Chef Tim Twiford (Executive Chef and Director of Foodservice for Redner’s Markets) sold for $5\, a blanket was ordered for someone in need. The first year saw enough raised for 1\,100 blankets. In 2017\, that number was up to 1\,450. Most recently\, 2019 saw 2.5 tons of chili cooked up for the 4th annual event\, netting more than $22\,000 used to purchase blankets\, and towards Blanket of Hope’s newest effort\, its bed program\, which kicked off in July of 2019 with the help of Fecera’s Furniture. \nTo learn more about Blankets of Hope\, CLICK HERE. \nThe Boyertown YMCA\nThe Boyertown YMCA brings help with child care assistance\, financial assiantance\, and membership information to Holiday HOPE for Families.
